Antique East Turkestan Khotan Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The mauve field presents three converging pomegranate trees issuing from small vases at each end. The pomegranate tree-in-vase motif is characteristically Khotanese. T-fret squares accent the innermost border, the next two borders display Turkmen designs, and the wide outer main border features cloud knots and slanting rain lines.
