A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A straw, strip-style border of triple posies and pinecone palmettes frames the slate-grey field, which presents three offset columns of the ever-popular Herati design, flanked by two half-columns. Divided open hexagons or diamonds are articulated by rotating rosettes and gently curved leaf motifs. Malayer runners were produced in a wide range of standard lengths, typically from 9’ to 20’.
