A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This rare Donegal carpet features a geometric Perso-Caucasian allover pattern rather than the more typical Celtic or Oushak drawing. The gray field displays Perpedil-style rams’ horns, ragged palmettes, palmettes with elongated legs, crosses, and fanciful guls. An ecru border presents crosses and cloud bands extending from palmettes.
