A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Although attributed to the Afshar tribe, this room-size piece incorporates elements associated with Turkmen, Qashghai, and other rustic weaving traditions. The field is divided into nine similar hexagonal bone sub-fields, each centered by a pendanted geometric hexagonal medallion. Numerous narrow borders display reversing fan palmettes, and a narrow Tekke Turkmen elem (extra end panel) appears at each end.
