Vintage Persian Malayer Throw Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. In this example, Malayer weavers innovate on the allover Herati design by isolating the fringed open diamonds into a central column, while dispersing the remaining elements bent leaves, rosettes, and smaller nested diamonds to the sides. The beveled brown field is set with sand-toned plain corners. A straw, strip-style main border another Malayer standby displays two varieties of reversing, fluid palmettes.
