Zilu bitonal weave in blue and ecru wools. The production of Zilu textiles dates back at least to the fifteenth century, and some antique examples are both dated and inscribed. Modern production, as seen here, is limited and typically features repeating small-scale field designs, interlocking squares, along with wider ecru end borders displaying repeating hexagonal plaquettes enclosing rosettes. The method of manufacture inherently restricts the palette to just two colors.
